  • KARTAVYA

An initiative by students of ISM to educate and enrich the lives of children of underprivileged families in and around the institute.

The effort has been appreciated by one and all and has now spread its branches in other institutes as well. Kartavya is a pledge taken by ISM students to ameliorate the future of underprivileged children living in and around ism so that they could lead a better non-parasitic life in future.

Initiated 10 years before no one had realized then that kartavya would metamorphose into such a bigger panorama. In 1999,a group of ISMites headed by Amresh Mishra, thought of improving the conditions near by ISM. For this they took pledge to educate the indigents residing in the slum areas behind their hostel. They had to confront a lot of problems at that time. Nevertheless their hard work and efforts started to bear the fruit when no. of children increased from 50 to 150 within a year. Their efforts developed the confidence in those children and their parents. Now they can dream of a bright future which was a far-fetched option for them. The life of these deprived slum children is changing and which results in the development of society.
